CPS Welcomes Barry, Nierenberg, Ph.D., ABPP

Barry Nierenberg, Ph.D., ABPP joined the CPS family on May 1, 2008. Associate Professor Nierenberg was previously from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and Department of Medicine and Community Health. He also served as professor at Wright State University’s School of Medicine, Newington Children’s Hospital, and Dayton Medical Center. Nierenberg holds a Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee and a diplomate from the Board of Professional Psychology, Rehabilitation Psychology.

Nierenberg was Director of Behavioral Science and Behavioral Medicine at Jackson Memorial Medical Center where he taught family medicine interns and residents in behavioral medicine and directed the Behavioral Sciences Clinic. He was part of a research team that resulted in reducing health care disparities to minority patients. He was past president of the American Psychological Association’s Rehabilitation Psychology Division. He also served as consulting editor for the Journal of Pediatric Psychology. He has numerous publications including in the Journal of Family Medicine, American Journal of Public Health, Journal of Burn Care Rehabilitation, to name a few. He is coauthor of Integrative Health Care in Rehabilitation (in press).
