More than 300 hundred people turned out to honor local activist Polly Wilkie at the Center for Psychological Studies' 9th annual Humanitarian of the Year dinner held recently at the Signature Grand in Davie.

Hosted by WPLG Channel 10 anchor Kristi Kreuger, the evening's dinner highlighted Wilkie's substantial contributions to education and her selfless devotion to the welfare of the citizens in need in Broward County. Wilke is the founder and a committed member of the Prestige Club, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising money to support children in need and educational programs. Organizations that have recently benefited from funds raised by the Prestige Club include the Susan B. Anthony Recovery Center; A Child is Missing; Light of the World Clinic; Hope Outreach; SOS Children's Village; Children's Harbor; Easter Seals; Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital; and many others. The Prestige Club also supports an ever-growing number of individual children in need as well as those who have experienced trauma.

Attendees were also treated to a very special musical performance by seven-year-old Julie Dale, whose performance was so moving that Joe Millsaps, chair of the CPS Advisory Board, referred to her as a "future Grammy winner and one of the best young voices in America."

All sponsorship dollars and other donations generated by the dinner will be used to fund a scholarship established in Polly's honor. The Polly Wilkie Community Service Scholarship Fund will support students who are committed to following in Polly's footsteps. Highlights of the dinner can be viewed by clicking here.
