CPS Students Present at the Florida Association of School Psychologists

CPS students were well received at the recent Florida Association of School Psychologists (FASP) Annual Meeting held in Orlando, Florida. Presentations were given by students from both the clinical psychology and school psychology programs CPS faculty Sarah Valley-Gray, Psy.D, Ralph “Gene” Cash, Ph.D. (President of the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP)), Angela Waguespack, Ph.D, Shannon Ray, Ph.D., Ana Fins, Ph.D. and Barry Nierenberg, Ph.D., and CPS Alumni Jessica Garcia Ph.D./Psy.D., and Kristen Cunningham Psy.D.

The projects and corresponding presenters included:

“Student perspectives on personal therapy: Are students empowered to empower others?” by KC Collins and Barry Schneider.

“Empowering Future Faculty: Graduate Training in the Teaching of Psychology” by Alyssa Rothenberg, Jessica Mackelprang, Karen Regan, Sarah Valley-Gray, Barry Nierenberg, Shannon Ray, Ana Fins, and Kristen Cunningham*.

“Accident Prevention and Safety Programs to Implement in Your School and Community” by MaryBeth Bailar-Heath and Sarah Valley-Gray.

“Continuing Education: Fostering Lifelong Learning for School Psychologists” by Julie Snyder, Sarah Valley-Gray, Ralph “Gene” Cash, Kristen Cunningham*, and Jill Driest

“Teacher Expectations Regarding Preschooler’s Academic Performance” by Eva Benmeleh, Jill Driest, Laura Bruder, Lauren Marocco, Leanne Shapiro, Sarah Valley-Gray, and Ralph “Gene” Cash.

“Latino Preschool Students: Sociocultural Factors Affecting Emerging Literacy” by Eva Benmeleh, Leanne Shapiro, Kristen Cunningham*, Jill Driest, and SarahValley-Gray.
