This presentation will address the stigma of mental illness and HIV/AIDS among Blacks in the United States and South Africa. A cluster of negative attitudes and beliefs that motivates fear, rejection, avoidance, and discrimination against people with mental illness and HIV/AIDS will be discussed. Participants will view a slide/video presentation demonstrating efforts to combat these biases within South Africa.
