Ethnic Minority Association of Graduate Students (EMAGS) Diversity Luncheon

The Ethnic Minority Association of Graduate Students (EMAGS) was formed in 1994 by a group of students interested in multicultural issues in the mental health field. Living in an area characterized by a diverse cultural population, we strongly believe that our academic and clinical training should correspond to the needs of our community. This organization was created to help graduate students expand their knowledge in providing services for major ethnic minority groups in the area. EMAGS not only serves as a medium to disseminate multicultural information, but also facilitates the building of a regional network of students interested in multicultural issues and supporting a diversified student body.

Our Diversity Luncheon is our most popular event, and we hold it once every semester. This year our luncheon will be held on Thursday, March 12th from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. in room #s 2055/2057/2058. We invite all of CPS students, faculty, and staff to come together as a "family" to get to know one another. People bring dishes from various cultures to share, and they dress in their cultures attire. We also have local restaurants donate dishes and we try to provide entertainment during the luncheon - for example, Dr. Reitman played guitar and sang at one luncheon last year.

On April the 3rd and 4th, GARGI ROYSIRCAR-SODOWSKY, Ed.D. will present on "Evidence-Based Practice and Culturally Sensitive Treatment" at the EMAGS Annual Mulicultural Conference.

We invite you to come out and enjoy the food and fun.
